5/21/2023 0 Comments The Rock by Monica McCartyThe reality is - and I didn’t know this until I read her books and then did some secondary research! - that the world of medieval Scotland was made up of knights and noblemen speaking French more often than Gaelic (and certainly not English which was considered a peasant language). What I loved most was that the series is a very accurate representation of medieval Scotland (and Western European society by extension) not the usual version you see in most HR. I truly felt like I was immersed in that time period, and as a bonus I learned so much about the history of King Robert the Bruce and the Scottish fight for independence. They’re some of the most unique books I’ve read (in the romance genre) because Monica based the plots on actual history, actual true events, and actual real people. Since then, I myself have recommend them in various threads and decided they merited a standalone post and discussion post!Īs a longtime reader, and lover, of historical romance - particularly Scottish/Highlander romance - this series will change your life. As a testament to the amazing readers at r/HistoricalRomance and r/RomanceBooks, I stumbled upon this author last year and devoured her highly recommended Highland Guard books in less than 2 months. 5/21/2023 0 Comments Rock graham greeneRose's maternal loyalty to the suicide pact (p.249) She felt responsibility move in her breasts she wouldn't let him go into that darkness alone.
